The 2007 Yamaha YZF-R1 has landed!

The first batch of the new awesome Yamaha YZF-R1 has now arrived in UK dealers.

The YZF-R1 has had rave reviews from all the major motorcycle publications and critical acclaim worldwide – we can’t wait to see it!

The new 2007 Yamaha YZF-R1 motorbike produces 189bhp (with ram-air) and features the YCC-T (Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle) system found on this years YZF-R6 where the ECU monitors throttle position, along with other variables, and decides how much fuel is required; also known as “fly by wire”. In addition the YZF-R1 has the YCC-I (Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake) system which uses electric motors to vary the length of the inlet tracts; at low rpm these are longer to promote torque and at high rpm they are shorter to boost power and high rpm response. Also featured on the 2007 YZF-R1 is the new four valve head, slipper clutch, redesigned exhaust, a more flexible frame and a sleek, fresh set of plastics.

The 2007 Yamaha YZF-R1 will be raced at World Superbike level by Nori Haga and Troy Corser, at British Superbike level by Tommy Hill and James Haydon and by various teams at Supersport, Superstock, World Endurance and Irish Road Race meetings.

Like its smaller brother the YZF-R6, the new YZF-R1 is a much more track focussed bike, whilst (hopefully!) retaining its real world usability. We shall have to wait and see.
